In the program “Yingluck Government Meets the People,” broadcast on Radio Thailand and NBT Television on 1 December 2012, the Prime Minister referred to the grand public audience granted by His Majesty the King at the Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall. She urged the people to join the grand public audience at 10:00 a.m. on 5 December 2012.
Their Majesties the King and Queen will appear on the open balcony of the
Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall within the Dusit Palace in Bangkok at 10:30 a.m.
Then the guards of honor will salute, and the brass band will perform the royal
anthem. The Royal Thai Army, the Royal Thai Navy, and the Royal Thai Air Force
will each fire a 21-gun salute.
Then His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn will deliver a
congratulatory statement on behalf of the Royal Family, followed by Prime
Minister Yingluck, on behalf of the Cabinet, government officials, and the
general public, President of Parliament Somsak Kiatsuranont, on behalf of the
legislature, and President of the Supreme Court Pairoj Wayuparp, on behalf of
the judiciary.
After that, Supreme Commander General Thanasak Patimaprakorn will lead the
Royal Guards in taking the Oath of Allegiance. His Majesty will then deliver a
royal address in response to the grand assembly. Following the audience, Their
Majesties the King and Queen will take leave by a royal car.
At 7:19 p.m. on the same day, Prime Minister Yingluck will lead the crowd
in the candle-lit tribute-paying ceremony as felicitations to His Majesty the
King at the Sanam Luang ceremonial site. The ceremony will also be held
simultaneously all over the Kingdom.
On this occasion, Thai people have also been urged to observe Thai
Environment Day, 4 December. Various activities are being held under the theme
“Making Thailand Green as a Tribute to His Majesty the King.”
The environment is a prime concern of His Majesty, who has always been the
model in the conservation of natural resources and the environment. Numerous
royal initiatives and activities related to forest, water sources, soil,
wildlife, and biodiversity were meant to restore equilibrium to nature, peace,
and happiness to human society.
All royal development projects take into consideration the local
environment. His Majesty said in a royal address that development must take
account of the local environment in terms of the physical environment, the
sociological environment, and the cultural environment. He stressed the need
for people to have knowledge and a clear understanding in order to find ways to
ease environmental problems correctly.
